News analysis for Heart FM

When looking at the range of headlines on Heart FM news i can make lots of assumptions. The first is that the news generally runs in terms of urgentness and importantness. The headlines vary between possible life threatening situations at the beginning, to the weather at the end. The second thing i can say is that the news is brought to us in a very quick fashion and finished in about 3 minutes. The newsreader starts with the news of a man getting stabbed in oxford. We straight away are aware that this is local news which is why it is the most important. She goes on to specify the age of a man that has been charged. This news is aimed at all ages and to anyone who lives locally.

The next slot of news is linked with the matter of money and explains how Thames Water are to raise rates. This piece of news can generally apply to the bill payers of a household (generally adults). It is debatable whether the third piece of information broad casted should be third or second. Kate moss is said to have attended St Paul's tribute to Alexander Mc Queen who killed himself on the 11th of February. The news of his death would definitely been broad casted as priority however it remains in the middle of the news because it is news of a celebrity paying tribute to him.

The final pieces of news are completely celebrity based and feature Myleen Klass announcing on twitter that she is expecting a new child. This brings me to the assumption that alot of people who listen to Heart FM are the sort of listeners who would read magazines like Hello and OK. This news is a bit more chirpy and may make people happy after hearing bad news. There is then a few seconds about the weather. 20 degrees and fine. A great way to end the broadcast and then start up again with some music.

To conclude when observing the news we can see all the different audiences that the news is aimed at. The most important news applies to most ages as well as the weather but then as we Analise the rest of the list it becomes more adult based and a bit more female based on the news of a new born child and the whereabouts of Kate Moss.
